ALBUQUERQUE PRESS WOMEN E-GRAM

Phill Casaus, Editor of The Albuquerque Tribune will discuss the sale of the Tribune by Scripps Howard and the end of Joint Operating Agreement with the Albuquerque Publishing Company at the monthly Albuquerque Press Women luncheon Monday, Oct. 8.

The E. W. Scripps Co. is seeking a buyer for Tribune, an afternoon newspaper published Monday through Saturday, and intends to close the newspaper if a qualified buyer is not found.

Casaus, an Albuquerque native, became the Tribune editor in chief June 1, 2003. A former sports writer, columnist, city editor and managing editor, Casaus has been in Albuquerque journalism for almost 30 years. He is in a unique position to talk about print newspapers, joint operating agreements and the era of the morning-evening newspapers, as well as the current situation and the future of the Tribune, a paper begun in 1922.

The Albuquerque Press Women luncheon will be held Monday, Oct. 8 at 11:45 a.m. at the Sheraton Uptown, Menaul & Louisiana. Lunch meetings are open to the public for the nonmember price of $21 or join APW at the door and pay the low member price of $15. Reservations: contact: Janet Ford at 720-7821 or E-Mail by Wednesday, Oct. 3. Please tell Janet if you want a vegetarian meal. Your reservation is our commitment to have a sandwich and dessert for you and your commitment to pay.
