ALBUQUERQUE PRESS WOMEN E-GRAM
NEW meeting location!!! The luncheon meetings from now through June, 2008, will be held (same day & time but new location) at the MCM Elegante, the former Holiday Inn Midtown, 2020 Menaul Blvd NE, just east of University Blvd.
From the Keyboard and the Airwaves: Gene Grant on Writing and Talking in Albuquerque's Media
Gene Grant, co-host of KNME's In-Focus, weekly news and politics show, will discuss how he hit the hot seat in Albuquerque at the monthly Albuquerque Press Women luncheon Monday, Jan. 14.
Grant co-hosts ˜New Mexico in Focus" with Santa Fe Reporter's David Alire Garcia. ˜New Mexico in Focus" is KNME, Channel 5's prime-time one-hour news magazine show covering events, issues and people shaping life in New Mexico and the Southwest.
In case you missed it: The 7 p.m., Friday show was revamped this fall to one hour and it looks at social, political, economic, health, education and arts issues and explores them in-depth. The intent is to cast a critical eye on context beyond the "news of the moment."
Join us to get Gene's take on the Beast, from its Belly. Luncheon begins at 11:45 a.m. at the MCM Elegante hotel, Menaul just east of University (2020 Menaul Blvd NE). Members $15, nonmembers $21. Reservations: contact Janet Ford at 720-7821 by Wednesday, Jan . 9. Please tell Janet if you want a vegetarian meal. Your reservation is our commitment to have a sandwich and dessert for you and your commitment to pay.

The raffle will raise funds for the NMPW annual scholarship fund--this time it is a sturdy softcase tote stuffed with books and other goodies. Tickets will be sold for $1.00 each or 5 for $3.00. We will sell the tickets during the Jan. 14 and Feb. 11 lunches and the drawing will be held on Feb. 11. You need not be present to win. And please remember to talk-up this scholarship opportunity with college students who should be encouraged to apply for it, especially where winning a scholarship will help a great student to stay in college.
