ALBUQUERQUE PRESS WOMEN E-GRAM

TELEVISION DIVISION
Will the new era of digital TV actually be better?
Why is New Mexico so far behind? Should the changeover be delayed?

Join Albuquerque Press Women on Monday, Feb. 9, for a luncheon discussion on digital television. Though the set date for the transition is just around the corner, the White House and several in Congress say we need to hold off. Is that a good idea? Will DTV be better? What should we expect from the digital TV switch? Why is New Mexico, according to the TV ratings folks Nielsen, the least-prepared state in the nation for the switchover? What more will we see on TV?

Join Press Women with Mike Burgess, vice president and general manager of KOB-TV in Albuquerque, Franz Joachim, production manager at KNME-TV, and the New Mexico Media Literacy Project at 11:45 a.m., Monday, Feb. 9 at the MCM Elegante Hotel on Menaul just east of University Boulevard.

Burgess, who's been with KOB since 1993, and Joachim will talk about what the transition will mean to us as viewers and what it will mean to their stations. The New Mexico Media Literacy Project sees television as a human right, as a place to freely get news, emergency alerts, and entertainment. What will happen if that disappears for thousands of New Mexicans?

We've seen the ads for months, find out if DTV will really live up to the promises.

Join us at our luncheon meetings the second Monday of the month
at 11:45 a.m. at the MCM Elegante, 2020 Menaul Blvd, just E of University Ave.
