APWF Bylaws

ARTICLE I Name

The legal name of this organization shall be Albuquerque Press Women (APW). For promotional and marketing purposes the name of the organization will be Albuquerque Press Women and Friends. It shall be a non-profit professional group affiliated with New Mexico Press Women (NMPW) and the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW).

ARTICLE II Objectives

The objectives of this organization shall be to:

Advance the professional status of women in mass communications

Provide opportunity for professional growth

Provide exchanges of journalistic ideas and experiences

Advocate ethics, responsibility and fairness in journalism

Coordinate efforts of interest to women

Support communications education

Protect first amendment freedoms

ARTICLE III Definitions

The general membership shall consist of all paid members.

ARTICLE IV Membership

Membership is open to any person in any phase of communication and those whose vocations and educational pursuits relate to communications. Membership is open to everyone meeting these qualifications regardless of age, ancestry, color, disability, gender, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation or veteran status.

ARTICLE V Meetings

APWF shall meet at a time and place decided by the Leadership Team. The annual meeting shall be held in June when the new members of the Leadership Team shall be elected.

ARTICLE IX Dues

Membership dues shall be determined by the Leadership Team.

ARTICLE X Amending By-Laws

These by-laws may be amended at any meeting of APWF by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of those members attending. The meeting and amendment must be published ten (10) days in advance.

ARTICLE XI  Disbandment of APWF.

All funds shall go to NMPW.
